Arbitration
Legislation

Spain has a legal system based on European Union Law.

“Arbitral awards in Spain are recognised and enforceable in more than 130 countries.”

The Spanish arbitration system is further developed by the Arbitration Law of 2003, based on the UNCITRAL Model Law of 1985. This Spanish law is highly practical in nature, as it takes into account domestic experience, as well as the experiences of other countries. It was born with the fundamental objective of promoting and facilitating Arbitration in Spain, particularly arbitrations of an international nature.

Furthermore, the signing of the New York Convention of 1958 has ensured that sentences awarded in Spain are recognised and enforceable in more than 130 countries.
